MetaMuse Google API Privacy Supplement
Last updated: October 13, 2026
This supplement explains how MetaMuse accesses, uses, stores, shares, and deletes Google user data. It forms part of the MetaMuse Privacy Policy, which also identifies MetaMuse LLC, our service providers, general retention practices, and your privacy rights. You do not need to grant Google Drive access to use other MetaMuse features.
Google Sign-In data and permissions
When you choose Google Sign-In, we request basic profile and email permissions. Google supplies your account identifier, email address and verification status, and available basic profile information such as your name or profile image. We use this to authenticate you and connect you with your MetaMuse account. We retain the account identifier and verified email used for the account; we do not request or receive your Google password. Signing in does not grant access to your Google Drive files, Gmail messages, or contacts.
Google Drive access and selected files
Only when you choose a Google Drive attachment do we request the per-file drive.file permission and open Google's file picker. MetaMuse downloads only the supported files you select for that feature, not your entire Drive. Supported selections include PDF, PNG, JPEG, WebP, Google Docs, and Google Slides; Docs and Slides are exported as PDF for import. We receive the selected file's content and metadata such as its name, type, size, and Google file identifier. We do not use this feature to modify or delete the original files in your Google Drive.
We keep the imported copy in private Google Cloud storage and link its metadata to your account and the selected marketing project or Advisor conversation. Importing creates a snapshot, not continuous background synchronization. The temporary Google access token is used to fetch your selections and is not saved in the MetaMuse database.
Google data in AI requests and outputs
Relevant messages and selected file content are sent to Google Gemini to answer your request. Original attachments are used in the Marketing Brief or Startup Advisor workflow where you attached them. Approved written briefs and other derived text may be used in later creative stages. Original attachment files are not sent to Creative Brief or Creative Ideas stages or exposed through public review links.
Gemini may create temporary provider-side file copies to process your attachments. Research features can also use Google Search grounding or retrieve public pages you reference, using relevant prompt context and search terms to produce the requested research. Under Google's Gemini API terms, Search grounding can retain prompts, context, and outputs for 30 days for debugging and testing the systems supporting that feature. Provider security and abuse-prevention processing also applies under those terms.
MetaMuse uses Google data only to provide the features you request. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated third-party sharing, or use it to train general-purpose AI models. Google data and derived content are shared only as needed for these service features, at your direction through a sharing feature, for security, or to comply with law. MetaMuse personnel do not read imported Google content without your affirmative permission for specific support access, except when necessary for security or legal compliance.
Revoking Google access and deleting imported data
You can revoke MetaMuse's authorization in your Google Account permissions. This stops future authorized access; it does not delete files already imported into MetaMuse or answers produced from them. Deleting the original file in Google Drive also does not erase the imported snapshot. Use the attachment removal control in MetaMuse to stop future file-based use and request deletion of the stored original and associated AI file copies. Contact us to request removal of other stored content or account data. Legal, security, and backup-retention limitations are described in the main policy.
Google API Services User Data Policy and Limited Use
MetaMuse's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Questions and deletion requests
Contact MetaMuse LLC, 16192 Coastal Hwy, Lewes, DE 19958, USA, at info@metamuse.marketing. You can also use Request account deletion on your account page; requests are reviewed rather than immediately erasing your account. Removing a file does not erase earlier answers containing information from it. See the main policy for retention and backup limitations.
